It is the dream of everyone to own a sports car. They are some of the most elegantly designed vehicles. We always admire them each time we see them. Sports cars are not mass-produced. They are handcrafted by specialists in automobile engineers and designers. Most sports cars are produced by specialized automobile ateliers who have mastered the art of crafting sports cars over the years. It is no surprise that some of the most expensive sports cars are brands that have lasted for centuries.

    What is a sports car?

A sports car is a type of vehicle that comes with just two seats, a sleek styling, and a fully compact body frame. A sports car is designed to act simply as a transportation medium for two people. It does not come with ample space for storage or has space for many people. Most sports cars are a collector’s item for rich people. some ordinary people can afford to buy sports cars.

Important facts about some sports cars

The first-ever sports car: The first-ever sports car that was produced will be the Lamborghini Miura. Produced from 1966 through 1972, it won many awards for its mid-engine configuration and its V12 engine. It was the fastest car at the time topping up at a speed of about 170 miles in an hour.

The most expensive sports car: The most expensive sports car ever sold would be the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO. The car was sold at The Pebble Beach Sportscar auctions by Bonhams for $34.5 million. When sold, the car was 52 years old and shows that it was a vintage collector’s item that increased in value the more the owner held on to it. This goes to show the sentimental value that many vintage sports cars attract.

The best selling two-seater: The Mazda MX-5 Miata is described by the Guinness Book of World Records as the best selling convertible two-seat sports car in the history of such fast cars. The car was first produced by the carmaker in 1990.

All-time best sports car: Based on expert analysis, the greatest all-time sports car is the Porsche 911. It is such a remarkable line of cars that is a collection of engineering design errors that should have compromised its performance. Rather a continuous process improvement has ensured that the series of sports cars have been in production for more than 50 years.

The fastest sports car: The current fastest sports car in the world is the alien-like SSC Tuatara. With a world record speed of about 316 Miles per hour, the car eats every other sports car in this category. However, it seemed that this record has shown to be unofficial as there is some discrepancy with the evaluation process. The valid record holder for this title will go to the next in line: the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+. As the current fastest vehicle in the world, it maxes out at 304 miles per hour. It edges out the Koenigsegg Agera (278 mph), the Hennessey Venom (270 mph), and the Bugatti Veyron (268 mph).

The prettiest sports cars: In terms of prettiness, there are certain sports car that just can’t be ignored. The sports cars with the prettiest looks are the 2020 Audi R8, the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8, and the 2019 BMW Z4.
