JDownloader is one of the best free software to save videos from the Internet. In addition to being completely free, it is also open source and multi-platform: it works the same way on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
The main strength of this program is its ability to “capture” videos, images and other multimedia content from any web page, including those of video sharing services such as YouTube and Vimeo, social networks such as Facebook and file services hosting such as MEGA, Rapidgator and NowDownload. In short, just copy the address of a Web page, wait for JDownloader to analyze it and press the download button. Convenient, right? Then try it now.
To download JDownloader on your computer, connect to the program’s website and click first on the Download Installer for 32 / 64bit systems item and then on Click to start the Download . Once the download is complete, open the JDownloader2Setup.exe file and click the Yes button to start downloading all the files necessary for the program to function correctly. The procedure shouldn’t take long.
At the end of the download phase, select the Advanced installation option and complete the JDownloader installation process by clicking first on Next and then on Accept , Skip all and Finish .
Do you use a Mac ? In this case you can download JDownloader by connecting to its official website and clicking on Download Installer Mac OS X Version 10.7 or higher which is located in the center of the page. When the download is complete, open the dmg package that contains the program and start the executable JDownloader Installer . In the window that opens, click on the OK button and complete the software installation process by first pressing Next and then Skip and Finish .
When the installation is complete, start JDownloader, accept the installation of any updates available for the program and leave it open. Then connect to the Web page that includes the video you want to save on your PC, click on the address bar (the one at the top) and copy the address contained in it by right clicking and selecting the Copy item from the menu that opens.
Within a few seconds, a notification from JDownloader will appear that will notify you that the software has “captured” the link and is ready to download the video. Then go to the Capture links of JDownloader tab , click on the play button located at the top left and all the videos added to the program will be automatically downloaded to your PC.
If you do not want to download all the videos added to the Capture links tab of JDownloader but only some of them, right-click on the name of the videos to download and select the Add to download list item or the Start download item from the menu that opens. If you add the videos to the download list, to actually start the download you will have to select the Download tab of JDownloader and click on the play button at the top left.
JDownloader also supports premium accounts of file hosting services (as well as debrid services). To add an account to the program, go to the Settings> Account Management menu and click on the Add button . To download photos and videos from Facebook you will also need to enter the login credentials of your Facebook account (following the same procedure).
