Hormones are an essential part of our body that aids in our overall well-being. They send a chemical message throughout the body, which keeps our body system and emotions in check. Even a little bit of tweaking in hormone production can lead to various types of ailments. Still, the one part of the body that usually gets affected because of hormonal imbalance is the reproductive system.

Any female hormonal imbalance can lead to endometriosis and even heavy periods. In addition to this, it can affect the other parts of the body, like the breast. Female hormonal imbalance is a serious issue, and therefore, you should study it in a detailed manner.

The main culprit behind hormonal imbalance

There are various reasons behind hormonal imbalance, but the main culprits are unhealthy diet, stress, insufficient sleep, pregnancy, menopause, diabetes, and thyroid. Our body works on very delicate chemistry, and even a little bit of change in that chemistry can lead to noticeable symptoms. This is what happens when a body is dealing with hormonal imbalance in the case of females.

In addition to the conditions mentioned above, even cancer treatments like chemotherapy, tumors, eating disorders, different types of trauma or injuries can lead to hormonal imbalance. Even if you are consuming birth control pills, dealing with PCOS, or struggling with premature menopause, there are maximum chances that you might have to deal with hormonal imbalance.

    Treatment and diagnosis

You can’t book an appointment with a doctor, get some tests done, and get diagnosed with hormonal imbalance because there is no single test available to diagnose hormonal imbalance. You will have to answer a long list of questions during the diagnosis to help the doctor in finding out whether you are dealing with hormonal imbalance or not.

The most common tests used by doctors to investigate hormonal imbalance are pelvic exam, blood test, ultrasound, MRI, X-ray, thyroid scanning, and even biopsy. A mix of all these tests allows the doctor to get to the root cause of hormonal imbalance.
