How to strengthen class 9 exam preparation

Exams play a very crucial role in a student’s academic life. Every student wishes to score the highest marks. It is not an easy task to score high marks in CBSE Class 9 exams. Students are required to have dedication and proper planning to pass the CBSE class 9 exams with flying colors. 

This article will provide you with tips to strengthen your class 9 exam preparation.

  • Go Through the Revised Syllabus: Students know the syllabus thoroughly to create a proper study plan. It will also help you to save time for productive learning as well as to avoid you from studying any irrelevant topic.   
  • Make a timetable for Your Study: Students should regularly study for 6 Ed>. Make sure you study with full concentration without wasting time. Plan daily targets every week and follow them seriously to achieve all the targets within the allotted time. Allot equal time of 1.5 hours for each main subject and 1 hour for the language subjects. This way you will reduce the stress and be able to cover all the subjects equally and can complete more topics in less time. Make sure you plan your timetable in such a way that you complete the entire syllabus a month before the exams. This way you will have enough time to revise and practice sample papers.
  • NCERT Books: CBSE recommends NCERT books as it covers the entire syllabus and has accurate information. Start with an easy topic in which you are interested in which you must read and understand each and every line thoroughly. Don’t neglect any topics since all the topics are important from an exam view. Highlight and make notes and mind maps of important points, formulae, definitions, and chemical reactions. Solve and practice all the examples and exercise questions at least twice from each chapter to figure out how well you have grasped the concepts. You can cross-check your answers with the help of NCERT solutions which are available online. Remember NCERT is like a bible for your exam as all the questions will be asked from it only.
  • Always revise the topic once you complete it: Don’t forget to revise once you have finished studying a chapter. This is one of the best methods to memorize and remember all the important formulas and long derivations from that chapter. Make short notes of what you have understood from that chapter or explain that chapter or concept to your friends to make learning more effective and remember it for a long time. 
  • Subject wise strategy: 

Have a complete idea of the marks weightage for each unit. Divide the chapters into high and low marks weightage. Start with the chapters that have more weightage and then move to the remaining chapters.

  • Science: Have a clear understanding of all topics from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Memorize all the important diagrams and their labelings, names of important compounds, chemical reactions, experiments, formulas, and definitions. Learning all these will help you to convey the information clearly and easily. Don’t leave out any difficult topics. Try to learn them through using various online resources like YouTube. 
  • Maths: Maths is a subject based on logic and formulas and demands regular practice. Only through constant practice, you will be able to understand the problem-solving methods as well as score the highest marks in the exam. Maintain a separate list of all important formulas, theorems, and axioms for each chapter. This will help you to revise frequently. Learning the formulas, theorems is just not enough. You should also know how to apply them to a problem. All the NCERT examples and exercise problems must be thoroughly practiced at least twice.
  • Social Science: It is divided into History, Geography, Civics, and Economics. History, Civics, and Economics subjects require the students to memorize a lot of events, dates, facts, and definitions. For geography, students must have a proper understanding rather than rote learning since it has many technical terms and concepts. Make note of important rivers etc. You can perform well in this exam by developing the ability of storytelling format. 
  • Literature: English and Hindi are easy and scoring subjects. Students should not ignore these two subjects and should thoroughly prepare well as the marks obtained in these subjects will influence your overall percentage. 
  • Identify Your Weak Areas: Students should identify the areas they are weak in while studying and should make efforts to improve in them. Spend more time on strengthening that topic. Don’t skip these topics to study later as it can affect your preparation.
  • Say no to rote learning: Students should have strong conceptual knowledge. Each and every topic must be understood clearly and should avoid mugging up. If you have any doubts, clear them immediately with the help of teachers or friends. 
  • Practice Sample Papers and Previous Year Papers: Students must practice answer writing rather than telling it orally while solving CBSE Sample Papers for Class 9 and previous papers. This will help you to improve your answer writing skills, spelling, and grammar. This is the best way to self-evaluate your preparation level and performance. Practice as many sample papers and previous papers as you can to identify the gaps in your learning and to know what all questions have been repeating every year. This will also help you to manage the time limit for each question. Make sure you learn from your mistakes and avoid them during the main exam.
  • Revise: Revision plays a very crucial role. Even if you have a good understanding of a chapter, revise again to make sure you remember all the concepts, important formulas, theories, etc. revise all the chapters at least once before the exam. This will help you to perform better.
