Standby Generators
They are also known as emergency power systems or back-up generators. These generators run on diesel or gas. Most have external tanks that last them for long hours before a refuel is needed. A standby generator has an automatic switch transfer which allows it to provide power when electricity goes off.
The most common uses of standby generators are for medical and life support systems, elevators, fire protection systems and many more. They cost between 250,000-500,000 Kenyan shillings.
Portable generators
They are mainly used for providing temporary electrical power. They mainly use diesel. Portable generators comprise of a combustion engine which aids in producing and conducting electricity. They are famous for providing quick solutions because they do not stay for long hours.
They are the cheapest types of generators. They cost between 15,000 to 45,000 Kenyan shillings.
